What girl hasn't searched high and low for the perfect red lipstick—especially at the holidays!—and we at Refinery29 are no different. We wanted to concoct a universal shade that was both flattering on every skin tone but still sassy enough to turn more than a few heads.
Naturally, with the party season fast approaching, we called upon the woman who reads red better than anyone: Poppy King, master-woman behind the cult lip-color collection Lipstick Queen, to aid us in our quest. And just like that, Monarch was born, a juicy berry red encased in the perfect dusting of enchanting turquoise iridescence (sounds kooky, but trust, it's divine!).
